The Hamoodur Rahman Foundation (HRF) was established in 2017 in memory of Justice Hamoodur Rahman, Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan. His life is an example of self-less service to the nation, which has inspired HRF’s commitment towards eradicating poverty, illiteracy, environmental depletion, and infrastructural constraints within Pakistan.

Serving as Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan from 1968 – 1975, Justice Hamoodur Rahman was a distinguished jurist and academic who presided over the War Inquiry Commission following the Bangladesh Liberation War. Over his celebrated service for Pakistan, he repeatedly pushed for accountability and sanctity of the law above all, exemplifying the leadership he desired for his country through his work and actions. Orphaned at a young age, Justice Hamoodur Rahman faced a challenging life, one in which he progressed on the basis of academic prowess. Therefore, quality education for Pakistanis was a key interest of his. He served as the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University in 1958 and simultaneously as a visiting professor of Law in Karachi.

With HRF, Justice Hamoodur Rahman’s children and grandchildren seek to honour his legacy by supporting community-based initiatives in education, climate protection, and economic relief. The principle behind HRF’s interventions is simple: assistance that will lead to long-term betterment for our beneficiaries. With this aim, we have already provided corona relief packages to households located in villages in and around Lahore during the first COVID lockdown, assisted in the facilitation of schools in inaccessible areas of Pakistan, and partnered on a number of environment and ecosystem preservation project with Government and non-Government organizations.
